After the Rain

raindrops on grass

Early this morning we had some much needed rain- the first in three weeks.

raindrops on clover

By mid-morning all that was left was damp ground, fresh air, and some lovely raindrops clinging to leaves. The clover leaves create platters for drops to collect.

raindrops on witch grass

The reddish witch grass is almost always spangled with droplets

raindrops on jack pine

And the jackpine still held a few drips.

  8. It hasn't rained for ages here in Lincs, U.K. Hopefully we'll have some soon so I can take a few pics. I particularly like the last photo with the water droplets on the jackpine. :-)

  11. Look at all the comments! Thanks everyone...

Julia- Hopefully Georgia will share some with you.

Rainfield- How perfect that you would like the raindrops!

Cher- I'm better at DEWels than jewels.

WillOaks- I'm good with frozen... but maybe not just yet. Autumn is good too.

Tes- yes, often the beauty hides in the "insignificant"

Icy- refreshing is just the word for what the rain did for us.

Glynis- You can have rain... that's good, cut out the tornadoes though

Vanilla- Welcome! I'll have to be sure to keep you sorted out from VanillaSeven

John- Thanks, buddy. I like the pine and the witch grass. I think it almost looks like spider webs.

Anonymous and Stacie- Glad you also received needed moisture!

  12. Lovely rain shots, fresh, dewy and sensuous! I can feel the droplets on my cheek... and smell the sweet smell of the air in the rain's aftermath.

  13. I love the raindrops all over everything! I usually forget to take pictures like these myself. When I get inside and I'm finished for the day I feel like kicking myself for it.

  14. Lynda- Welcome! That is high praise, and what everyone who is brave enough to show off their pictures wants to hear- that they made someone FEEL what happened.

Ratty- I almost missed it myself. I was stomping along my same old path, and stepped on a blade of grass just strung with droplets... too late to save them from death by shoe. That woke me up and I started actually looking at where I was walking.
