I went out a little earlier than yesterday and look what I found! First, here is the long view... just the row of red pine and shrubs back by the railroad tracks. But look closer! I made the two best clickable so that you can see them larger.

P.S. We did a Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Version movie marathon with Sean of the bagpipes today. I think I've sat still long enough for a while!

Wow, that frost looks gorgeous. The last few days have been beautiful and sunny here in southern Quebec too. It's feeling like spring is close :)
ReplyDeleteThe way the light hits those needles of ice is so beautiful! Lovely photos of the ephemeral event. Isn't it great that the days are staying lighter longer!??
ReplyDeleteWOW! I am facilitated looking at the pictures really. Really really nice shark..
ReplyDeletesorry..typo..lol..."fascinated"...
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos, especially close up. We have a frost here this morning but it's nowhere near as impressive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture which I may not have done it.
ReplyDeleteI do not have winter.
Jack frost has been out with his paint brush well that's what my grandparents use to tell me, I like to see the frost on the plants & trees, they are a work of art.
ReplyDeletelove the close ups... simply gorgeous....
ReplyDeleteI like those hoar frost mornings. Yup, time to get up and move.
ReplyDeleteNothing like spending ten hours in Middle Earth!
ReplyDeletelove the abstract of frosty branches in the last image, very stunning. well, and the first one is something i like, i like sun and snow combined :)
ReplyDeleteI really like when frost does that. It's like the frost is trying to become sparkly extra leaves.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike! Southern Quebec? That's like upper NY- not exactly spring yet, eh?
ReplyDeleteKaren- I do like having light at least till after dinner. Dark in the afternoon is the pits.
nightblastz- hey... if the frost facilitates you somehow, that works for me! Fascinating.
John- those long threads of frost aren't usual here either, so I'm really glad I went out when I did. I had no clue I would find this when I left the house.
rainfield- Your lizards and spiders would not like to stick their toes in the snow.
Hi Duxbury- Is Jack Frost an English character? Probably! But we have him too.
papabear! Your little one would love it.
Chuck- After almost 12 hours with only food and potty breaks my knees were STIFF!
Dennis- I don't understand why one of those lands... maybe Gondor... didn't have kennels full of royal Vizslas!
Betchai- I thought that last one very abstract in an organic way. The light is interesting.
Ratty- "sparkly leaves" - I like that!
Somewhere else I saw someone call the spikes 'cacticles' which I thought is quite catchy.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I dislike the snow and cold it has an incredible way of making things look truly extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful pictures. My favorites are the second and third ones. They look like feathers!
ReplyDeletePerfect moment and some nice images. I'm almost getting tired of taking similar photos. I need something besides frost, snow and ice to relieve my cabin fever.
ReplyDeleteTemps in northern NY have been hovering around freezing lately. (nights - upper teens - low 20s) Warm enough to start thinking the worst of the cold is over.
I can hear Spring whispering in the distance. But I've been around long enough to know she's saying "Don't kid yourself"
John- That's funny! Spines are modified leaves, so I guess these are frost leaves.
ReplyDeleteAnn- Oh, I like your word "extraordinary"
Icy- yup, those were my favs too.
Wiseacre- hey! great to see you! You had a long break and I kinda forget to check out your blog, but I see you are back with many winter shots. Someone said it was getting springlike in southern Quebec. Seems unlikely!
