Pyrola elliptica, Shinleaf, is a wintergreen relative. It has waxy, white flowers, shaped like little upside-down cups. But it was only in bud last week. It's not particularly rare, but it likes nice rich forest soil, so you don't run across it very often. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to catch a shot of the open flowers on the next hike.
Good morning, Shark, it's 4AM and I couldn't sleep. Went to bed at midnight. At least, I had your sweet little shinleaf to greet me!
ReplyDeleteThis looks familiar. I've either seen this or something very similar to it before.

ReplyDeleteThis is something I should watch for. I like all plants that might grow in the forest.
