I tried.

I used one side of a pair of binoculars. I aimed it at the sun. I managed to get the sun "spot" to show on the house wall. See it there above the shadow of the binoculars? Hey! Is that a little dark spot in the upper left corner of the sun circle?

Why yes, it is! But it's not the shadow of Venus. The spot is still there even without the sun image. Drat. Dirt Spot Transit- Success! Guess I'll just have to live another 105 years.

Why is there a yellow arrow painted on your wall?
ReplyDeleteI also failed :-( The transit started before sunrise here so I prepared everything last night, telescope, cardboard, paper and camera.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it was too cloudy :-(
My photographic effort also failed. Maybe we'll have better luck next time. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved you post.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain here but we were prepared with special glasses and my kids did reports about it. Sadly nothing but thick cloud cover in Spokane.
If at first you don't succeed, oh, well.
ReplyDeleteWell at least you tried. I totally forgot about it.
ReplyDeleteMy attempt failed too. I used a telephoto lens that projected an image of the sun onto a piece of paper. I definitely saw a spot, but it turned out to be just a dirt spot on the lens.
ReplyDeleteJohn B- Now, that is a really good question!
ReplyDeleteJohn M - I thought that would be my fate, but the sun did its part.
Chuck- Let's make a date!
Margot- Drat- sorry about that
Vanilla- Don't be such a pessimist
Ann- I often forget these things. I was determined to remember this time
John S- That is too funny! We keep finding so many things in common, but this is really going too far, don't you think?
Hi, Nice post! Would you please consider adding a link to my website on your page. Please email me back.

I just get a kick out of all your shadows on the side of the house. You could use them for Shadow Shot Sunday!!
