The caterpillars are completely out of leaves to munch on this milkweed plant. They seem to have formed a furry muff around the stem and are parked. Will all of these break through to the next instar? No change all day.
It's not that I'm bored with the caterpillars, but there are so many other fun and pretty things going on, that I'm going to add more to this. These pictures have been taken over the past month or so. I love it when there is a diversity of flowers blooming at one time, in a meadow or on a hill, so you get a nice display of color.
The first one is from June, with viper's bugloss, daisies, and hawkweed.
Earlier this month (and still all blooming) are sweet peas and birdseye trefoil.
Taken just a few days ago, we have hairy vetch, spotted knapweed, peppergrass, and bouncing bet (soapwort), with a field of potatoes in bloom in the background.
I just like all the color!

ReplyDeleteThose colors are nice. We've left the milkweed and Queen Ann's lace to "round out" our flower garden.
