Color or No Color?

You would think that with all the wonderful colors I'd be still showing you those every day. Instead, I think today I'll take out the color (almost).

We'll start at a backwater of the Pere Marquette River.

This next picture didn't have very much contrast in color. Miss Black Squirrel was trying to blend into the fall landscape and was succeeding better than you might expect. But look what happened when I faded out the colors of the leaves.

OK, I admit to playing with this one a little bit. But not much. This picture is actually what gave me the whole idea. The morning was frosty, and the sunrise lit up the aspen trees in the back yard that are holding on to their leaves. There was hardly any color in the picture except the gold, so I went ahead and took the rest of it out.

I'm pretty sure I'll be back to color tomorrow!

  1. I love the 1st photo due to the reflection. The black squirrel is special. I have never seen one.

  3. No color is good sometimes. It certainly can make a picture look more dramatic. That first one looks like a painting.

  5. I agree that the first photo is particularly good. Have some fun and invert the image for a dream-like image. Now look for girls' faces. You should be able to find at least six.

  6. Is it just me or does the black squirrel in black and white look a little bit like Sasquatch?

  8. Jean- we seem to have "hot spots" of the black squirrels. They are really just a color morph of the grays.

betchai- It's not often the water is still enough to get a whole tree "caught" in it

Ann- Looks like I doctored it, but it just was that way!

rainfield- such different landscapes from yours, but each is special

Chuck- I found a porcupine. I'm not so good with girls

Dennis- only if you are 2 inches tall

John- they can be very dramatic!
