H is for Helicopter and Porcupine Tree

This post is perhaps less inspiring than some, but when a helicopter flew over my back yard this past week, I couldn't pass it up for H.

What was it doing? I have no idea. It buzzed across the field and out of view over the cemetery.

You may be wondering why I think that "Porcupine Tree" is an H entry. Perhaps you even think I've sort of lost my phonetic bearings. Not at all. Take a look.

porcupine tree

I've showed porcupine trees before. I looked back, and I've showed you four others, but only one of those times did I see the porcupine, and I couldn't get a picture. No critter this time either, although there's clear evidence that it's occupied (a fresh pile of poop at the bottom of the hollow tree).

  9. I like the idea of a porcupine tree! Maybe the helicopter had heard about a murder in mule swamp! ;0

  11. The tree is amazing-nice fit for the H day. We don't see helicopters often, and when we do, they're usually LifeFlight which makes me worry about whoever is on it.

  12. I really liked your picture of the porcupine tree. I'm going to have to follow the A Diversity of Wildlife link after I post this comment to find out more.

I also liked the story of the Reluctant Prince(ss) you told on Sunday. The pictures were what made it for me :)
