We've had some lovely weather the past couple of weeks, but this weekend we are supposed to return to at least early spring, if not winter. Here is how it looked on the morning that I left for New York, on Feb 24.
By March 12, the snow was almost all gone, and it was so warm this morning that the remaining snow was changing directly to steam- called sublimation. Here's a closeup.
I took a couple of video clips, but didn't catch an interesting shot. When the breeze was just right you could see the mist just blowing into the trees.
It's been so warm this week that most of the critters are coming out to play. Here's a wary red squirrel.
I hung out more laundry today, but it was cooler than yesterday, and by tomorrow night it's supposed to be raining. Well, rain is good- don't want grass fires!

Winter is going to try to come back for a last gasp. I like the little red squirrel. Those guys are maybe my favorite squirrel of all.
Every season has their magical scenery. Nice squirrel you got there :)
It would be awesome to experience the changing of the seasons like that. Over here we go from hot to oppressively hot to hot with rain, lol
The trees around our place in New York used to be haunted by red squirrels. Those little guys were crazy. They used to sit in the branches above me when I was in the hammock and just screech and growl at me until I went in the house.
That little guy is adorable. I love the closeup. I've found that out here they actually pose for pictures :)
interesting regarding the sublimation!
We always get one or two more snows, so you sort of expect it. But that doesn't make them any less depressing! It's still warm yet today, so Hobbes and I are enjoying it while we can.
Ratty- I know! I love them- they are the cutest of all, but the naughtiest too.
Vanilla- bloggers around the world are teaching me that what seems too ordinary to bother with may interest someone else.
Ivy- I don't think I could stand not having real seasons.
Dennis- They really are the naughty boys of the squirrel world.
Jo- This one was pretty wary, but a good zoom lens helps!
wenn- it happens all the time, but we only notice it on really warm days
Lin- Snow now won't be good for anything (skiing or snowshoeing), so I'm ready for SPRING.
