White Kitchenhenge

 
Remember kitchenhenge? I haven't done one for a while. It's the tracking of the sun from my kitchen steps. Not much to see today!



Even when the sun almost appeared, the best the sky could do was get pearly. The slight pink line on the far right is the most color the sun offered this morning.



However, yesterday was better.



The day before was better yet! And pretty close to the southernmost point of sun travel.

In other news: I did not do much. I cleaned the kitchen before 8 am. Work was stressful, but then I handed out muffins to everyone. Most of them went to all the drivers and carriers. They don't get a lot of perks, and they do get a lot of grief from unhappy people. I think the gesture was appreciated. I can't say that I've done a single productive thing since I got home, not even to read. Mostly, I've sat still and played a game.

However, I do have to do a little more kitchen stuff for the party at work tomorrow. Then bed, I think.

Muffin Marathon

 
Why, yes. I do seem to go a bit overboard no matter what the project is. But I need this many.

How many muffins? 11 dozen. Cranberry Orange and Blueberry Walnut.



I also got DMS Druggist all formatted correctly and ordered a case of paperbacks. That took me most of last night. (I tried to give up and go to sleep, but brain said "do this NOW.") Went to bed at 4 am and then got up and worked, came home and have been baking forever.

My three hours of sleep is beyond worn off. Good night!

Music All Day Part III

 
This is the final event from Sunday. In the afternoon I went to the West Shore Community College Choir concert at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. They give the concert multiple times at various venues and I usually manage to catch one of them each year.

I recorded two of the songs. This is Baby It's Cold Outside, directed by Lew Wilson. This compares favorably with a professional recording I have of the song!

Here is African Noel, directed by Becky Sopha. I didn't realize it was so short, and I didn't get a closeup of the drummer. Sorry about that!

There were some solos and groups and interesting accompanists. Here's the drummer and trumpeter.


A violinist played with the song Ose Shalom, which was also beautiful. If you want to hear it, you can search Facebook for Ludington Area Center for the Arts. They recorded a couple of songs.



In other news: There a still a couple small formatting issues to deal with in Dead Mule Swamp Druggist. It's an easy week at work, but I'm sort of tired so that's a good thing. I did a huge shopping trip today, which I hate. But I'm close to done for gifts and food.

Music All Day- Part II

 
After the adult handbell choir opened the service yesterday morning, the rest of the time was filled with a children's program.

First up was a handbell choir for kids! This is quite ingenious. Each child has a different color bell. The different colors are different notes. You can see the director sitting in front holding cards. On the side the kids can see are large ovals of color. If their color is showing they are to ring their bell. The numbers on the backs of the cards is so the leader knows how many beats until the next card.

The group is named Krystal Bells. I think they did a good job. Some of the kids are quite small. And what a neat way to introduce them to the idea of making music with bells.

They went on to do a traditional Christmas pageant, as you can probably tell from the costumes the kids are wearing.

The angels appear to the shepherds. (And the girls sang a lovely version of Angels We Have Heard on High.)

And afterwards... birthday cake for Jesus!



I think maybe the little animals (see costumes on the smallest kids in the bell choir) forgot to come to the stable... or maybe they were out in the pasture and couldn't be rounded up!

Anyway, it was cute, and the story is foundational, so it will continue to be told.

In other news: Dead Mule Swamp Druggist is completely uploaded and just awaiting final review from CreateSpace. If it passes that review test then I can order a paper sample copy to do a final proof check. And not a moment too soon. Sometimes, I get paper books in just a few days, but the last order took almost two weeks, so this is cutting it close to have copies on Dec 26.

And, I worked a few hours (Beth needed the day off), and did laundry.

It was a great day of enjoying the best parts of the Christmas season.

Starting with handbells. We played two songs this morning. The first is "Still, Still, Still."

Next was What Child is This? with a cello solo. The cellist is an 8th grader!
