More Christmas Week Fun

Our gifts from Loretta came today. What fun! Mine is...
Christmas gift

OK, I could tell from the sound when I shook it. But that just increased the anticipation. It's a puzzle!. 1000 pieces.

Om got this for me earlier in the season. He said he couldn't resist. We don't need more of this kind of thing, but it has been fun to press the button and see the campfire light up and the Christmas lights blink. Yes, it makes me smile.

Cathy and I did a hike today on the NCT. The weather was gorgeous. We did an easy three miles. Actually, the same as the very beginning of my big hike, which she also did with me. That was just over 2 years ago!

And, I seem to be on a serious puzzle jag. I redid this one called "Loveable Pets." I last did this 3 years ago. It's 550 pieces and a little harder than it looks. Just hard enough to be interesting.

Then, I found this one in my stash. It had never been opened. It's a high quality puzzle by Audubon, but the pictures are very dark. I was thinking it was going to be quite hard. 500 pieces, non-standard cut. Ha. Easy peasy. I had it done in about an hour and a half. The odd shapes helped because when the colors were muted or muddy, I could just go by the shapes. It's called "It Was for Ripeness." I'm not entirely sure how that relates to the photos, but I guess most of the plants were forming seeds, or had frost on them. Not sure how the waterfalls fit in. Anyway. It's now been done.

I did some volunteer stuff today and cleaned up the kitchen yet again.

Sunny Under a Cloud

Nighty-night, Sunny, until spring. Om helped me get the cover on for the winter. We may get some real snow tomorrow. small travel trailer covered for the winter

Meanwhile, yesterday, I saw this inflatable yard decoration. Cute. Of course, tiny trailers seem to have soared in popularity recently, and so there are lots of matching decor items. Still fun. inflatable yard decoration like a small travel trailer

In other news: I wrote Chapter 19 in Dead Mule Swamp Singer. I did a few other small outside jobs to get ready for snow. I walked 4 miles, and worked on my editing jobs. Not too shabby.

Christmas Day 2018

It was calm and pleasant here.

Christmas Tree

The antique creche never got set up, but Omer found two others we had been given as gifts that we hadn't used in years, and I enjoyed seeing these. The simplicity of the white ones is appealing.

And this one is a puzzle- all the figures fit into the stable frame for storage.

I got nice gifts: art supplies and small funnels I asked for, new dishcloths (much needed), the camper ornament and towel from Loretta, and Steve sent the square camper pot for me to try. It's interesting. I might have to blog about it separately. Steve also paid for the vinyl for my trailer floor (when I get back to working on it this spring). Josh brought us a fruit basket and trail mix.

Christmas gifts

We had a yummy meal with no fuss at all- serve yourself from the kitchen- and we are JUST FINE with that. Lots of leftovers for the coming days.

I've been reading a book and working sporadically on formatting the print copy of DMS Mistletoe.

Following so many friends on Facebook and seeing that you have had a wonderful day as well. Merry Christmas!

Trailer-ing

The weekend was just WOW! Worked today. Trying to stay awake to put something on the blog.

First I went to Ester's. Forgot to take a picture of her, but I got one of the trailer in her driveway.

Next day it was on to Upland, Indiana. Trailer is now a sandwich between two Subarus. It pulls quite easily, and I'm getting comfortable having it back there following me around.

Guess, who also has a Forester now. Loretta!

friend

We had a great weekend. She gave me the best birthday I've had in a very long time, which included this fun little birdhouse. I don't think it will be going outside, though.

It's similar to the one I saw a couple of years ago at Trail(er) Dreamin'

I'm just too tired to do better tonight. I'll show you more of the things we did over the next few days.

Trail(er) Dreamin'

The wind is still wuthering and shrieking and FILLING IN THE DRIVEWAY I JUST OPENED, but I'm not going to think about that right now.

There' a Marty Robbins cowboy song I like called "Trail Dreamin'." It's about riding a horse, but of course I always think about hiking, but today, I'm thinking about my little trailer. Right now, it's still huddled in the snow.

And yet, "Visions glow as I go trail dreamin'. I see a home on a blue mountain dome..."

Today, I published Bury the Hatchet in Dead Mule Swamp (Get yours at Smashwords or Amazon.) This is not only personally gratifying, but I hope it gets me one step closer to my goal of more independence. Maybe this is TMI, but at $2.99 each, I'll get about $2 for every full-price sale. Not a fortune, but there are already some dedicated Anastasia Raven fans who will be sure to buy it. And books in series are popular, if well-enough written. The other three have done well enough that I'm definitely encouraged to keep it up.

Also, today, I was offered some free-lance editing. If this works out, it could be a real breakthrough. It's for sure I can't travel much with two part-time jobs tied to this local area. And it's also for sure I can't travel without an income. More mobile, writing income is incredibly awesome!

"There'a a rainbow trail that's lined with stars, That leads to a gate with moonbeam bars..."

Can you see me here? ...in my little portable office, writing about all kinds of things, and hiking, and...
