Duck Creek Natural Area

Three of us from the local hiking group went and joined the Hike Muskegon group today. Duck Creek Natural Area is a trail system none of the three of us had ever been to. You know I like that.

There was fresh sticky snow. What a winter wonderland!

They had a good group show up, and all together we were about 20 hikers. I think a couple aren't in the picture. New friends!

It's a relatively new trail system, mabye 3 years old. They are still raising money for one more bridge. There are 8 or 9 unique miles, arranged in loops. We did 3.3 miles. This is one of the crossings of Duck Creek.

The snow wasn't deep enough to be a problem. This is a really nice trail system, and I'll be writing one of my columns about it. It's a litte south of Montague and Whitehall. Created by Fruitland Township.

And before I even left the house this morning, this was an awesome treat! I could not see where the sun was breaking through any clouds to cause this alpenglow, but the tops of the red pines were pink, and you can see two other sets of trees farther away that were also catching the light.

I had bell choir this afternoon, and we are working hard on Christmas pieces. Not much else got done... a couple of errands.

Miles hiked in 2024: 535.3

Ann- I'm really surprised how many people seem to come for group hikes in the last few years.
