O Gee, Another New Word

O gee, did you know that ogee is a word? An ogee arch is one that is curved at the top, but then recurves and comes to a point. It is a style of gothic arch. The ogee arch was introduced from the Arab world in the 14th century. Medieval England embraced the design. It was so popular in Venice, Italy that it has also become known as the Venetian arch. It can also be called a keel arch since it looks like the keel of an inverted ship. I immediately added it to my list of favorite words for the game Quiddler, with three vowels and only one consonant. (Are you reading this, Marie?)
