I went out a little earlier than yesterday and look what I found! First, here is the long view... just the row of red pine and shrubs back by the railroad tracks. But look closer! I made the two best clickable so that you can see them larger.
P.S. We did a Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Version movie marathon with Sean of the bagpipes today. I think I've sat still long enough for a while!

Wow, that frost looks gorgeous. The last few days have been beautiful and sunny here in southern Quebec too. It's feeling like spring is close :)
The way the light hits those needles of ice is so beautiful! Lovely photos of the ephemeral event. Isn't it great that the days are staying lighter longer!??

Jack frost has been out with his paint brush well that's what my grandparents use to tell me, I like to see the frost on the plants & trees, they are a work of art.

Somewhere else I saw someone call the spikes 'cacticles' which I thought is quite catchy.
As much as I dislike the snow and cold it has an incredible way of making things look truly extraordinary.
Those are beautiful pictures. My favorites are the second and third ones. They look like feathers!
Perfect moment and some nice images. I'm almost getting tired of taking similar photos. I need something besides frost, snow and ice to relieve my cabin fever.
Temps in northern NY have been hovering around freezing lately. (nights - upper teens - low 20s) Warm enough to start thinking the worst of the cold is over.
I can hear Spring whispering in the distance. But I've been around long enough to know she's saying "Don't kid yourself"
John- That's funny! Spines are modified leaves, so I guess these are frost leaves.
