Well, I'm still not ready to accept wenn's award... maybe tomorrow (you know I can't do anything simply). Meanwhile, today was the day for Joan and Ellen's Excellent Monthly Adventure. I'm not going to tell you about that either! (Yet)
But after our outdoor adventure we went to Ellen's house. Can you see what Maggie saw?

Oh, there it is, running down the feeder pole.
It's one of those really cute little black squirrels!
But look! A gray squirrel came up just then, and the black squirrel moved off a little ways, but didn't run away. Maggie thought Ellen's house was way better than TV!

I was wondering if they'd escaped from Ratty's blog. :-) Great contrast with the squirrel against the snow. Don't they normally hibernate?
The place where you live is truly interesting. I was only able to see stray rabbit whenI was in Milan crossing the road but aside from that nothing more.
our native red squirrel has been slowly taken over by the greys, we still have areas that our native reds survive in good numbers - mainly due to good rangers - we are now seeing the black squirrels in the southern counties.
Maggie must be an angel, Meg would have chased Cyril Squirrel.
I can't believe that squirrel can climb up on that pole..Great capture!
But does she chatter like the cats when they see birds? The clicking teeth crack me up. I've never had a dog to see what they do.
Oh, squirrels are very exciting, aren't they?? All that tail shaking and chattering--wow. And they run all over the place! Hobbes likes the squirrels too--they are fun to chase. Did Maggie get to chase them?
Squirrels are cute and fun to watch--definitely more fun that most TV at least!
I love that.
It is far more better than my TV as well.
Hi Carmen- Thankfully, we don't have too many of the fox squirrels here. They are very aggressive and larger, and they can push the grays and blacks out of an area.
John- Yes, they escaped from Ratty, but they are going to carry something back over there for me today. Nope, squirrels don't hibernate.
Hi Webbie- One has to spend some time outside to see the wildlife. If you work at attracting them to your yard, they will also hang around. Ellen has many feeders- supposed to be for the birds, but if you have feeders, you will get the rest too!
Duxbury! Maggie is not nearly so good as you suppose. She is looking out a patio door. Hmmm- here the reds and grays will co-exist. I wonder if your reds are a different species.
Icy- I missed the really good picture. That pole was NO problem. It stretched out straight from the pole to the feeder like a regular gymnast.
Julia- I've heard of dogs that will do that, but Maggie doesn't. She just watches... well, she will chase if there is no glass in the way!
Lin- She got a couple of chances to put them up the tree!
Karen- With that nice big patio door, Ellen gets a real show at her place.
rainfield- There sure aren't any re-runs... something is always new!
You already know I like seeing squirrels anywhere I can. They can climb just about anywhere they want. I like the shot of the one climbing down the pole. I like seeing the little gray squirrel too. I wish there were a few more near me. I've seen two now this winter, so they're here, but hiding.
Ratty- I missed the best shot! The black squirrel was holding the pole with his back feet and stretched out to the feeder, which was swinging away. He was like a black rubber band for a minute before he had to let go with either front or back!
