Small Victories

burning brush

It was a good day to burn that grapevine that I've been working at cutting off the side of the house. I spent an hour and a half on that project. But the day became surprisingly nice and sunny.

cooking hot dogs

So, when life gives you campfires... make hot dogs!

dog sitting
"Hot dogs! Where? Hot Dog! O shucks, that second one is for Dad, not for me? Well, ok... I got Mom to throw a stick for me for a long, long time. And I did get a good-girl cookie when we went inside."

See First Snow for a wheelbarrow full of this project.

What a great day--campfire, hot dogs over the fire, dog friend. Who could want more???

We don't get many camp fires - most people use the gas ones here.

We would have had to tie Meg up, she would have jumped on the fire for a hot dog :)

I'd love to have a fire in the garden but I think the neighbours would probably complain :-(

What a wonderful way to spend a gorgeous fall day. You just can't beat cooking over an open fire. Lucy you!

I would say you managed to turn that into a very successful day and even Maggie seems to approve

I have to agree with everyone else. I also know how difficult it is to get rid of a grapevine. So I know you had to have enjoyed the cookout!!

Maggie is lovely!:-)

I love that variation of the old adage, lol

Sounds like another quality day, esp for Maggie, even if she didn't get the second hotdog :D

A job well-done, a nice fire and a hot dog for a reward. Pretty good fall day, I'd say.

Lin- Yup, it was surprisingly pleasant. I went out to burn stuff because it had rained and there wasn't much wind... ended up quite pleasant.

rainfield- well, I could wish for my best friend to be there, but it was good enough!

Carol- gas fires outside? Well, I was keeping a good eye on Mags. She has her moments.

John- That's the joy of living in the country... no neighbors that close.

Mom- hey, thanks for stopping by! You are right... it's just the very best!

Ann- Maggie wanted even more stick time, but she's not very good at bringing it back, and I'm not willing to spend forever hunting for it.

Shinade- I'm sure the vine will be back, but hopefully I won't wait so long to deal with it.

Ivy... Midge would have loved it. The weather turning nice was quite a surprise.

vanilla- Yes, it was quite rewarding!

Fire-grilled dogs, one of my faves. Lucky.
