NCT Hopeful End-to-Ender

Today, Luke Jordan, aka Strider, came through our area on the North Country Trail. He's trying to become the fourth thru hiker of the whole trail. A thru hiker is one who starts and doesn't take a major break until completing the trail. He started in North Dakota on March 27, and hopes to finish in August. He's just a couple of days short of halfway.

My friend, and current President of the Spirit of the Woods Trail Club, Loren and her husband Dave, picked Luke up and let him clean up and sleep at their house last night and tonight.

I went to their house for the evening to get a chance to meet Luke and visit with him.

This is from the Manistee News Advocate- video made yesterday.

See link below for pix of me with others who have completed the whole trail.

So I wonder:

do these people have jobs? I mean, how do you hike that much and carry a job? I'm not judging, I'm just wondering. I'd like to figure out how to do this stuff and still work...if that is possible.

Way to go Strider. This Strider's job is easier since he has no hobbits to protect.

I was wondering the same thing as Lin. I know I would never be able to take that much time off to do something like that.
Best of luck to him

This Strider just finished college in December, and realized he had to do it now or not til he retires. He chose now.
