This month there were two entries in the contest. Both of them got the laddergram right. The solution was TEAM LORE.
The entries came from John of English Wilderness and Ratty of The Everyday Adventurer
But the final winner was Ratty, since he also sent an essay using the 12 words from the puzzle. The words are 1. trail, 2. liar, 3. air, 4. routes, 5. routs, 6. ruts, 7. astern, 8. terns, 9. sent, 10. lamed, 11. dale, 12. lad. Here is the story by our imaginative friend, Ratty!
The lad was such a liar. He claimed the air routes sent him to a ship in the midst of a flock of terns. While he stood astern, the ship turned into a wagon that was in a dale full of ruts. He was seriously lamed by stepping into the ruts on the main trail, so he routs the terns from the water to carry him home. What a liar!
Now for the top commenters from March. I never did get February done, and I apologize, because I do like to thank those of you who interact with me in some substantial way. Anyway... here's how March came out.
There were 40 people who left comments, and a total of 229 separate comments (not counting my own responses to them).

Congrats for the winners :)
My congratulations, as well, Shark. I got very behind in my comments from Feb 17th to March 10th, with my stint in GA, caring for my mother, then I had the conference in Shell Beach. It is so easy to fall behind, even though I do love reading my favorite blogs! They're more important to me than the daily news, almost!
Thanks for organising the contest and congratulations to Ratty. :-)
Congrats to the contest winners. Both are deserving folk.
Thanks for the shout out. I may not comment every day, but I do visit.
Congratulations to Ratty :)
Thanks for the Link - I enjoy visiting your blog so expect more comments :)
Carol.
congratulations to ratty. I love his essay, so creative. Once I saw how the puzzle worked I never did get back around to trying to solve it. Maybe next time.
Thanks for the top commenter link, I appreciate it
Shark, congrats! to Ratty and John at EW. Also, thanks so much for the link, very much appreciated.
Congrats to the winners! So cool that I'm one of the top commenters. :)
Oh, hooray! I've moved up on the ladder of buttons!!
Wow, some of those pallies sure had a lot of comments. ;) Thanks for the ad, Sharky. It's an honor to be here.
Congratulations to John also, and to all of your other top commenters. My little story was a new experience for me. I usually have a lot of trouble writing while using keywords. Like I've said before, I'm more of a storyteller than a writer, so trying something like this is difficult for me, but still fun.
Sincere thanks to all of you who stop by so often!
