Here's American Bittersweet, Celastrus Scandens, which is much more common than the alien Oriental Bittersweet.
It's often prized for the ornamental value of the seeds in the winter. It is pretty! However, it's also quite a pesky vine. It can overrun everything in sight, killing trees and covering buildings.
I was happy to find a nice patch of it today to add to my photo pages at Shark Shots

Those of them look unique and beautiful.
it does add some nice color to an otherwise brown landscape
yes, it is so pretty and attractive colors, however, i do see also its invasion of the landscape.
rainfield- They ARE easy to ID when the capsules break open.
Ann- They make beautiful fall bouquets
betchai- such an annoyance that so many pretty things are really problem plants
It is pretty and colorful, just a shame it can overtake other plants.

It's pretty but it makes me think of the Southern kudzu that seems to overgrow everything - actually, I think it was imported, originally, from China.
