We just thought this was hilarious. This whole section of the Buckeye Trail maps is called the Road Fork Section. Here's the entire village of Road Fork.
OK, it turns out there is a tiny church around the curve, but seriously, that's it. It's the name of an intersection. There's nothing there!
Much more interestingly, we hiked a lot of township roads today. Beautiful rural scenes.
On one of these roads, I saw three cows with interesting markings. I'd never seen this pattern before. It turns out they are a breed called American Lineback. They have a gentle disposition and are good for both milk and beef production. Nice looking cows!
One other point of interest is a hiker shelter, called the Hulls Shelter. I am assuming it is named for long-time Buckeye volunteers Herb Hulls and his wife. Always great to find legal camping opportunites.
And I can't end the blog post without mentioning the HUGE road construction project on Route 537. They are apparently moving the road out of a valley and building a berm on which to place it. Amazing earth moving project. While we were chatting with the flagman, we learned that they use 1000 gallons of gasoline a day to haul all that dirt. And we gave a thumbs up to a female equipment driver. Girl Power!
