A Blue Rubber Ball
A blue rubber ball
Hidden in the stubbled field...
When did you lose it, my
Golden Chip of sunshine?
It was well-chewed,
Had played hard, like you.
Did you laugh when you dropped it,
Thinking to tease?
Ten years and more
The grasses have hidden it.
How swift are the shadows
That measure our days.
A red rubber ball
Nestled with your buried bones...
Do you run the forever fields
Awaiting another game?

After reading that, I feel kind of sad for the poor old blue ball. I've lost plenty of balls in the grass.
nice writing it is touchy
Ten years and more
The grasses have hidden it.
Yes, everything just disappear as time pass by.
Isn't it funny the things you find that make you remember your beloved pet? Maybe it's a little sign that he's still with you--I'd like to think so. :)
I had a good cry the other day when we found Hen's favorite toy behind the china cabinet.
Hi Ratty and Rainfield- I could hardly believe finding it...
Blogger Rise- Thank you! And for stopping by, come again!
Lin! How strange that we should have a similar experience... These unexpected things just blindside one, don't they? I mean, Chips has been gone so long that even if he had lived to be an old dog he would be gone now anyway.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and sharing this post with me. How amazing to find that ball after all this time. Chip must still be running around. Thank you....
Flo- Thanks for coming over! Perhaps Chips and Nala are getting acquainted.
