Sticky Fingers in Pine Cone CIty

white pines in a snowstorm

Nope, not today... haha, I'm always late-- you can just call it April Fool's. Actually, I just wanted you to see the white pines by the house. They must have had a great year because they dumped cones all over the yard. I've never had to actually DO anything about that before.
wheelbarrow full of pine cones

This picture is from today. I've already filled the wheelbarrow three times and there is at least one more load! It was warmer today and I came in with my hands just covered in sap. There was no way that would come off with soap, and I didn't want to wash in gasoline or paint thinner. I decided to try vinegar. It was interesting. It didn't really remove the sap but it changed it so that I could rub it off. Then I washed with dish soap and that did a pretty good job!

Hike Planning Report
Spent 1.5 hours working on the maps. Got all the base maps printed and ready for custom markings.

Sent an update email to the other hikers and got some answers from them about food preferences, so I can start planning the actual menus.

Try rubbing alcohol. It seems to destroy grease very quickly.

White pines are beautiful. You gotta love 'em -- even if that sap is so sticky and clingy.

An award awaits you today on Secondary Roads.

Hi Solomon- I have remembered today that a friend advised ammonia and that worked really well. I'll try the alcohol too, and compare.

Chuck- Thank you so much! I'll "pick it up" later today.

I've noticed pine cones laying everywhere too. For some reason, I've haven't picked any up recently though. I always tell the kids in the family to look at them.

rainfield- are you working on a new profession?

Ratty- Keep the kids sticky... it's safer until they climb on you!

Those white pines are gorgeous... and so cold looking in that image.

Thanks Rob, I really love those pines in any season. They "make" this home site for me
