They were quite a distance away, so the camera had trouble focusing, but I saw some female common mergansers yesterday. I've showed you pictures of them before (a while back). But I'm a little excited about these because they were right here where I live.
There were four of them swimming on the Middle Branch of the Pere Marquette River.

I've not seen ducks like that before. we have lots of types here on Holes Bay, of course. And today some of the Canada geese were back, but I only counted four.
Those are some very pretty duck pictures, it all looks so tranquil to me. Our kitchen when I was a child was decorated in a mallard duck theme.

I'll bet the best part of these were that they were close to home. I always like seeing animals close by.
