Spirit of the Woods Snowshoeing at Pine Valley

Today was the monthly hike for the Spirit of the Woods trail club. Once again, there were only three of us. But Ellen has become a world traveler, gone to the other side of the globe. This time it was Loren, Dave, and me (with two dogs, Corky and Maggie).

The day was pretty cold, but sunny, making everything beautiful. We were all bundled up well enough, so that was no problem. Destination? Pine Valley Pathway. It really looks different in the snow. I was glad someone had been down the trail ahead of us. A few more markers might be in order in unbroken snow.

The dogs had enough sense to walk in our tracks, rather than flounder through fresh snow. We went 3.4 miles, which was plenty. Part of the way was well-broken, but another part had only one old ski track to follow, so that was more difficult. It took us just under two hours.

And what does one do after a chilly, strenuous hike, and a nice lunch?

I'm loving some nice winter!

Looks like you all had a great walk especially Maggie :)

Well it looks like you had a beautiful day even if it was cold. That picture of Maggie at the end of the day though gets two thumbs up :)

Maggie has the right idea. Play hard and rest.

I enjoyed reading about Maggie and the small group of hikers. I woke up at 7 and had to walk my dog. She is good for my daily exercise.

Well, Maggie looks good and cosy. All in all, it looks like it was a great day.

I'm JEALOUS!! I'm still shopping for snowshoes. Still. And dreaming. Even IF I get them, I can't do it this winter with this toe. :(

Next winter.....LOOK OUT!

I'm with Maggie--get under the blankie!!

betchai- it's so easy when the day is beautiful!

Carol- It was a bit long for my old Mags, in the snow, but she seems ok today

Ann- I agree, she's so cute when she's sleeping. I love her slanted eyes.

Chuck- it's better to wear out than to rust out!

Judy- no kidding! A dog is a built-in exercise regimen.

Jean- it was a really good time- of course, I've been unhappy on very few hikes, ever

Lin- when I hurt a knee one year I learned that the snowshoes were pretty good with it- the wide deck seemed to stabilize it.
