Taughannock Falls

I'm going to "cheat" and just share pictures of a favorite place taken almost a year ago. This is Taughannock Falls in New York, near where I grew up. You've seen it before, but not these pictures. It's 215 feet high!

I'm just chillin'. Work was done early today. Mind is blank. Enjoy the pretty pictures!

The rock formations look like ancient ruin etchings. Where in NY is this beautiful waterfall?

Oh it's pretty there. In the first picture it looks like there is another bridge lower down. Am I seeing that right?

Wow! I take it from the way the rock has eroded that this was once a much bigger waterfall.

Hi Jean. It's just a few miles north of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes.

Ann- That is a fence. It is as close as you are allowed to walk any more. When I was a kid you could walk right up to the pool. But idiots would try to swim, and going in that pool has always been certain death.

John- Not in human memory. The Native Americans describe it pretty much as you see it. All glacial formations, so 10,000 years ago it was higher.
