Here We Are- NCTA Trail Celebration 2019

We have arrived! The pictures aren't much, but we've been busy trying to get ready to go on time, finding out the first meeting we wanted to get to was earlier than I thought, getting the trailer set up at the campground, getting something to eat. But we made it!

I know you've seen the trailer recently, but please notice that it is not in my driveway! And there is a nice little homey glow of light through the window.

We did make it to the meeting, where the acting Superintendent of the Park Service was holding a round table discussion with anyone who wanted to attend. There was a good sized group.

The best news, in my opinion, is that the first two parcels of land they have been able to buy for the trail (since "Willing Seller" passed Congress a couple of years ago) are being inventoried, and the trail is being sited properly in the landscape. This is all so new for our trail, that the NPS is having to learn how to be a land manager as they go, but it's coming together.

National Park Service meeting

The conference is being held at Shanty Creek Resort, Bellaire, Mi. Too pricey for us! So we are camping (as are lots of other people). Here's a late afternoon view from the Shanty Creek patio.

And after we got the trailer unhitched and settled in, we went out to dinner at a local pizza place that also had really good wraps.

The restaurant had fun decor.

Hiking tomorrow! Muddy everywhere. The trailer got nice and dirty. Tomorrow is supposed to be chilly and rainy, but then the rest of the weekend should be nice.

P.S. I managed to forget a few things that it would have been good to have remembered, but nothing that's a real crisis.

The trailer looks good all set up in the campground. Too bad about all the mud
