Still in the 40s here. This is certainly a different spring from last year! I'm hopeful of a great fruit year! To be honest, I wouldn't mind if it got a little warmer.
The sandhill cranes began to return a couple of weeks ago. They were so high up I couldn't tell if they were cranes or herons until I looked at the pictures on the computer.
Snowdrops are willing to bloom even in the... well.. the snow. They are finally feeling pre-springish and blooming at all.
This one is telling. The daffodils got tired of waiting for enough sun to be happy, and one of them decided it was going to give blooming a try. Pretty pathetic, but I appreciate the effort.
Tomorrow I have assignments, and it's not supposed to rain. I'll be happy about that. There might even be some cold sun.

A cold sun.
That's cool.
"Cold sun" caught my attention, too. May you and your daffodils get warm soon!
While the foot has me staying indoors for the most part, I've been hearing the cranes' raucous calls as they've flown overhead. It has been a bit more than a couple of weeks now.
I've been waiting for the crocus, but to no avail. Nor have I seen the hyacinth.
the way things have been going here even a cold sun is welcome.
Things are sure taking their time greening up, aren't they? Last year they were done blooming for weeks--remember? I know last year was unique, but it seems like the earth is really tentative about popping this spring.
Rainfield and vanilla- anyone who lives far enough north knows that cold sun.
Chuck- just a real dearth of growing things yet
Ann- indeed! The air was cold, but the sun was warm on my face.
Lin- it's so hard to believe we are halfway through April!
