Thunder!
I have to disconnect- hopefully will be able to do a real post tonight, but can't risk blowing out another router.
I know what you mean. I've had three routers, probably half a dozen cable boxes, a couple of telephone modems, at least 2 hard drives that I have had to replace over the years due to storms. You would think they could come up with something that would work like a surge protector that would last until you can shut it down. Good luck.

Ferd & Emma- Thanks! Storms have ruined three routers for us, and they aren't free!
don't blame you one bit. It's better to be safe than sorry. That gets pricey when you have to replace that stuff
Ann- You'd think that with the good surge protector we bought after the first mishap that we'd be OK, but nope...
