I've been meaning to tell you the rest of this story, and here we are at G. Can't find a better time! For those of you who are coming by for the A-Z Challenge, I'll give you a quick overview.
On October 20th, we were given a 30 pound turkey. Yes, thirty. Named Galluzilla for Gallus (Latin for fowl) and zilla (Pop Culture for monster- actually the Wikipedia entry for Godzilla is quite interesting)
Freezer, challenge to get it in... Thawing, challenge to get it thawed... On December 22, I cut it up, and made soup out of all the less desirable parts.
Still 20 pounds left to roast for Christmas dinner!
I saved the wishbone, sprayed it white, and it will hang on future Christmas trees.
Just a wishbone you say? Check out the ruler. Yes, that is 6 inches!
Goodbye till next Christmas, Galluzilla.

at first, it doesn't look like giant, but when i saw you holding the leg, i finally can connect the 30-lbs to that turkey, and the wishbone, my! i do not think i have seen one, and wonder how you were able to thaw it well enough.

That's the biggest turkey in the world. You should have made a cast of its body and perched it on your roof for people who passed to gawk at. What a great persent. I'm glad you made good use of the carcase.

Nice story for Easter Weekend. I had to cook one of those once when we had a larger crowd. No room in the oven for anything else!

Now that's a TURKEY! I like the idea of turning the wishbone into a christmas ornament...although I'd probably break down and wish on it instead.

That is one huge bird. Very clever name too. I let the kids name the turkey every year and they can't seem to get away from the "Tom" or "Thomas" names.

My great grandmother, for whom I am named, always saved the wishbone from the Christmas turkey, painted it silver, and hung it on the tree. It's quite a lovely tradition.

I have never seen a turkey so big in my life. I hope it tasted good.
My God .. that was a big bird ... how did you manage to get into the oven *smile We had something like this a couple of years for Christmas ... tonnes of them - I was afraid the meat would be dry because of the size. Luckily we had commercial ovens - they are massive and they tasted really good. Great blog you have - will stay for a while. Good luck with the challenge. Viveka (1628)

Good grief! There's no way I could even fit that thing in my oven! I can barely get my regular 12 pounder to fit. Galluzilla is an appropriate name for that monster.
