It's Hellebore sp., a garden plant, often called Lenten Rose because it blooms so early in the spring, and holds the blossoms a long time. This is because the colored "petals" are really sepals. The actual petals are down in the flower center.
It's a garden plant in this country. Lots of cultivars have been developed in various colors.
I'm still hunkered down editing and writing. Also bell practice today.

I have these in my garden and love them! They are so hardy and brighten up the garden early in the season. Gives us hope that spring is on the way!
They are really pretty. I don't think I've ever seen those before.
Lulu: "Our Dada says he first heard of hellebore from an episode of the Smurfs when he was a kid! It was years before he realized it was an actual plant and not just something they made up for the purposes of having someone put it into a potion."
Our Lenten Rose had a few blossoms just coming out, but it's all buried under snow today!
Lin- what colors do you have?
Ann- well, now you have!
Lulu- Not only that but there is false hellebore, and helleborine!
Stew- they grow happily so far north!
