This isn't going to be one of those nice photo essays, or some great feat, or new treat, or anything special. Except that it's the first day this season I've been out on the skis. That's always a quality day.
I try to keep my trails mowed, and today is a perfect example of why I like to do that. There is enough snow to ski, but the going isn't much fun in the tall grass. You can easily see how much better the path is where it was mowed. There are just enough little hills out back to keep me happy.
The big loop around the field is flat, but it's still good exercise.
Just in case you want proof of the claimed activity:
Hunker down, west Michigan. Tomorrow is supposed to be nasty.

You lucky lady! Not quite enough snow here yet, but our meadow out back looks very similar. The mowed paths do work great in the winter. I think your back yard is actually much bigger than ours though.
That's nice that you have someplace so close to go. We'd have to pack up the skis and travel somewhere around here. I was thinking of getting some snowshoes this year.
Looks like fun. We stay on 3 acres Calgary and they are covered in snow. Plan on breaking out the snow shoes this weekend. Come from sunny South Africa so never did learn to ski.
Sorry, that should have been 3 acres outside of Calgary!
a nice defined trail there thanks to you diligent mowing.
Hi Stew- I don't own it all, but I call it my kingdom
Lin- I would be deterred by having to drive every time
wordswork- I visited your blog- good stuff
Ann- well, if I really was diligent the downhills would have gotten mowed. Now... may not get to do them, who knew we'd have serious snow already.
I've never been skiing before. Or really did any of those winter sports things I promised myself I'd try after moving up here.
