Is It Spring Yet?

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely ready for something a little more spring-like outside.

Meanwhile, it was Easter! A great worship service this morning, and then a very laid-back dinner for Om and me. Just ham, salad, and strawberries for dessert, with the rest of the hot cross buns. Oh, and a little cheese.

What's happening in the gardens? Very little.

The oriental poppies are getting some nice leaves. This will be the red one.

The rock garden is pretty much still dormant. OK, that may be better than having things green up too early, but hey... things are about 2 weeks behind last year.

This is the pasqueflower, trying to get something going.

This is the same one, ONE, mini-iris that came up last year. These don't seem to spread for me either. They just struggle along for a few years and then die. But one is better than none. I used to have purple, yellow, and blue.

It was a laid-back day. I did a few things, but not with much dedication.

See So Early! Too Early?

Easter Music 2025

The music this morning was terrific! I've included our handbell piece (the hardest we've done this year), the choir, and a soloist.

We played "Hallelujah" by Beethoven from The Mount of Olives. Becky is on piano.

The choir sang "Easter Song" by Anne Herring. Directed by Becky, of course.

And Hunter Brown singing "The Trumpet Shall Sound," by Handel. John Taranko on trumpet and Becky on Piano. A little bad camera work, but I discovered I had to hold the camera to get them in the frame, and I wasn't fast enough to get set up in time. Also, these are just recorded through my camera microphone, so he actually sounded even better than this.

I slept 1.5 hours last night. I was fine in the morning, but felt punch drunk all afternoon. I don't seem to be good at taking naps in the daytime. I managed to putter around in the gardens a bit.

I should sleep tonight!

Easter 2018

The temperature said "winter," but inside the church everything was yelling "spring," and "new life."

The music was wonderful- choir, brass quartet, girl's quartet, and great congregational singing (not just spectating while a worship band plays). He is Risen!

Just for contrast, there's a new production of Jesus Christ Superstar on NBC tonight. I know it wasn't written by Christians, but I've always found it strangely compelling and honest.

We had ham and sweet potatoes and real green beans. I talked to a lady at church I hadn't seen for many years. She's 92. I'm so glad she said something to me because I wouldn't have recognized her.

Spent the afternoon filling out the surveys for the 23 and Me genetic test that Steve gave me for Christmas. I know... I'm slow, but I'm getting to it. I agreed to the research part, so the questions were extensive, and kind of interesting.

A calm and restful Easter. Hope yours was good too!
