To Soldier Lake

In reality, we leave here again on Tuesday for more hiking, but try to ignore the time lag. I'll start taking you through the last hike day by day.

We started hiking that section on June 4. This was the last time we were to be clean and dry for a while!

Most of the hiking that day was across a level plain with fairly open jack pine forest. However, by mid afternoon it was raining.

We camped at Soldier Lake, and it rained almost all night. The recent spraying of the tent and the new zipper kept us well-protected, but of course everything gets really damp.

AH, the enjoyment of outdoor adventure.

Too bad there's no controlling the weather. For me once that dampness sets in I can't stay warm.

Being wet and having to walk in the mud is one of the hardest parts of hiking in my limited experience. Still, I've enjoyed going out on rainy days. I hope that kind of thing is still at least somewhat enjoyable on long hikes like yours.

I love the rain but I would prefer to stay dry when I'm out walking in it....being cold and damp would not appeal to me at all. I wouldn't mind sleeping out in the rain, again, as long as I stayed dry. I guess I'm not an outdoors sort.

Sharky, I am only looking at the pack you are going to carry and I am already wobbling :)
I hope the weather picks up and you can dry out, nothing worse than damp gear.
