Blue

No, I'm not feeling blue. I just like the approximately 30 minutes, right at dusk, when photos look blue.

I don't even mind that this looks fuzzy. Actually, the air was kind of fuzzy. It's not snowing, but it's like there is a mist hanging around making layers out of the various distances.

And I've shown you one window full of my blue glass collection previously (link below). But here is most of the rest of it. The real cobalt blue glass does not fade in the sun. Some of the pieces are no big deal, and some are kind of special. Maybe I'll talk about individual pieces some time.

This is the left side of the kitchen window. The pieces that look yellowish in the photos are white milk glass.

And the right side.

I really love it! Blue is my favorite color, except when it's yellow. Blue and yellow together really make me happy.

I got myself in gear today and did some editing and cleaned up the kitchen yet again.

BONUS: Here is today's LOL moment. My friend Sue posted this. She said she had proof that today was pretty cold.

Unusual Apparitions

What is that strange apparition marching across the front of this desk?

Even stranger, why is only one of these lights apparently on? (No the bulbs aren't burned out.)

There was a strange appearance in the sky today which caused a row of my bottles to cast that shadow across the desk.

And the glowing light? That one was a little weird. As the sun began to go down (a little later than this picture), the light coming through a window was only hitting one of the globes of the dining room light, resulting in the appearance that only one of the lights was on. It was NICE to look outside and realize there was sun!

In other news: I finally have the house and my mind ordered enough to start working on two huge projects. They are each difficult, but I'm going to try to spend a small amount of time on each one every day.

The first is to deal with all the applications by long distance NCT hikers that have come in while I've been away. People are understandably annoyed, and I need to get cracking on this project. I made a tiny dent today in terms of getting organized to work on it.

The other one is to keep working on cataloging the pictures from the hike. All of the pictures from all my other hikes of the past 32 years are coded, numbered, labeled, etc. To date the hike with the most pictures was the Arrowhead hike in 2009 with over 1000 pictures taken mainly by 3 people. This hike has thousands, plural, of photos with a lot of photographers. I want to include the pictures sent to me by others, because those are just about the only pictures of me, since I don't take many selfies. I made some small forays into that project while I was still on the trail, but only a bare beginning. I have no idea how long this will take (at least months because I can only stand to work on it for so long at a time- tedious), but today I tried to pull together the information I did get recorded while I was hiking into a framework.

I Like Bright Colors

I really light bright clear colors. Sometimes I think I'm a little confused, though, because I love Impressionistic Art, which mostly features effects of light and soft colors. But, when push comes to shove, in clothes, decor and whatnot... I like the bright primaries and secondaries.

The first picture I took while on that walk in the rain on Saturday. This was just about the only bright spot I saw- maple leaf against a sedge.

My kitchen windows are filled with blue glass (mostly cobalt blue).

Today, I finally learned what the vines are that grow high in the spruce trees beside the alley at work. They are American bittersweet. Easy to tell when you can bring the fruits close with a camera lens.

Tomorrow is the biggest day at work. All those Black Friday ads go out the door. 20 inserts in the daily paper. We've been running packets all week. Stay tuned.

Nothing but Blue Skies

The temperature broke 50 here today, I'm pretty sure. I went for a walk and specifically looked for some hints of spring.

Yesterday, the skies cried and spit and threw snowballs with a vengeance. Screaming and having a hissy fit because winter has to leave?

I did like the drops caught on the screen behind some of my blue glass. But it's not spring-like.

So I carried my camera around my road loop-walk, just the three-mile one, and all I found that looked like spring was a lovely blue sky.

I also managed to collect about a dollar's worth of filthy bottles and cans. And I even remembered to take a bag with me to carry them in.

(I see this is essentially the same shot of my blue glass that I previously shared, except for the wet screen. Maybe someday you'll see more of it.)

Blue

Just a little photo essay in blue. I wasn't trying to capture different textures, but I like the results.
