The Titmouse Poses

 
Today was a work day, and at someone's bird feeder I tried really hard to capture a nervous tufted titmouse. They don't hold still for long.



The easiest way to identify them is that they are a small gray bird with a crest. But, do you think I can manage to catch that crest lifted with the camera? Nope! However, he seems to want to play hide and seek.

Red Tail Fun

 
I heard it before I saw it, that distinctive high, descending "ke-ee-er."

So I knew I was looking for my friend, the red-tail hawk.



It was a little too far away to catch anything except the silhouette, but here's the fun part. Soon, the hawk was joined by a second one. They were not fighting, or diving at each other, so I'm thinking it was a pair. They mate for life.

I managed to get them in the same picture!

Engage, Embrace, Enjoy

 
I'm no great believer in fortune cookies, but Dove candy wrappers are running a pretty high percentage for me! You might remember another really nifty one from Tempt Your Sense of Exploration. But today, Engage, Embrace, Enjoy was a little chocolate gift from a different person.

First of all, here are my hosts for Friday and Saturday nights, Bruce Matthews and Linda JeRue. They gave the party Friday night, and I stayed at their house. Don't you love those smiles! I think they make a great couple.



Maggie had to go along with me because Om is still on his trip. She's never traveled with me very much and had to do a great many new things. I wasn't sure how that would go with such an old pup. However, she handled it very well. She was good about staying on her bed. She was a little confused sometimes, but didn't get frightened or noisy. I'm very proud of her.



But, whose house is her bed in?



Chuck and Sylvia's! Don't you think Sylvia offered me the perfect little sweet with that Dove chocolate? Believe me, she provided much more than one little candy! Their eating style is very much like mine, and I enjoy eating with them. We also attended a Bible study, and visited lots and lots!

Every once in a while,you meet someone who is more or less instantly a great friend. I feel that way about them. You can visit Chuck's blog at Secondary Roads

Now, Maggie and I are home safe and sound. She's quite worn out, but I think everything went well. Back to work tomorrow!

An Exercise at Pratt Lake

 
Today, after attending church with Bruce & Linda, I headed for...

and stopped on the way so Maggie and I could stretch our legs at Pratt Lake. I chose this place because it was there. No other reason. It was a damp, gray morning, and nothing seemed to be very interesting.



But apart from the physical exercise of taking a [very] short walk, I set myself to another exercise, as in practice session, of looking for some beauty in this rather drab-looking place.

You'll have to decide if I succeeded.

More North Country Pursuits

 
Today I attended the North Country Trail Association board of directors meeting. I'm no longer a member, but I attend as a guest when I can. I just can't vote. That was in Grand Rapids. No pictures... How interesting is a bunch of people sitting at table in a hotel, right?

Following the meeting, some of the folks went to Lowell for refreshments at the NCTA Headquarters and to watch the Lowell Christmas Parade. So that's what I'll share. Not great pictures... it was dark, I'm short, etc, etc. So, you get some people under the NCTA sign, and some people watching a decorated truck. Hey, this isn't a photography blog today. It's just sharing good times with good people.

And I spent the rest of the evening chatting with Bruce and Linda, all getting to know each other better. Bruce is the NCTA Executive Director, and they invited me to stay with them for the weekend. Thanks, "guys!"
