Writing, August 13
Well, this isn't going to be a very interesting post, but I had to spend the evening writing articles. I got on Helium this morning and there was an article in the "Marketplace" that pays $120 if yours is accepted. It was a topic on which I think I have some good perspective: "Loving Under Difficult Circumstances." And they wanted it from a Christian, Biblical perspective. So I spent all morning writing a good, careful article- 1800 words.
When I went to submit it, I learned that I don't have enough ranking stars to do that. Ouch! So I tried to figure out if I could earn that star yet today, since the deadline for the first article is tomorrow. I could write enough articles, but I have no control over their ratings.
Had to go shopping this afternoon and begin cooking for the work week that starts Sunday. So much for that time slot. This evening I decided to give it a try on the ratings. I wrote three more articles, but I don't even understand the rating system. To earn a star they require that "writers have written a total of 4 to 29 Helium articles, which rank on average in the top quarter." I now have 5 articles, and 4 of them are in the top quarter, but the 5th is dead last in its group, so... I don't know.
Michy says that they update at 5 am EDT, so I'll know in the morning if I can submit my good article!
Now, believe it or not, I'm going to go bake cookies because it is just a tiny, tiny bit cooler in the kitchen at night. How about if I bring you some tomorrow?

Count me in for some cookies.:)
Dumb rules...they should accept your article on content....duh!
That all sounds a little bit confusing. I'm with Jean, they should just accept the articles on content.
I'll just be sitting here quietly waiting for some of those yummy fresh baked cookies :)
You are now back to your normal life.
Cheers again.
Jean & Ann- have a cookie and forget the article. I didn't manage to get the rating I needed to submit it, unfortunately.
rainfield- You sure got that right!
I've been writing on Helium for several years but never on the competitive title part. It's kind of a pain because you have to do ratings, etc. I've made a total of $50 in two years, I think.
Carmen- I think that I could make a little more than that if I tried just a little harder. They actually do upfront payments now. Won't get rich, but every little bit helps!
