Flower Show Day, Beginning and Ending

The theme of this year's Philadelphia Flower Show is "Brilliant," with Great Britain as the location. We got there right at opening, and the centerpiece exhibit was Big Ben.

Big Ben

The grownups enjoy the show alone till mid-afternoon, when David picks up the girls from school. Then we stay until they are exhausted. It lasts a little longer each year, but the day generally ends when one or the other of them has a meltdown. You might reprimand us and say we should leave earlier, but there's no way to predict when it will happen, and the girls don't want to leave. Suggesting we leave earlier would probably cause a mass meltdown of its own. The memories always seem to be good even if someone leaves in tears.

I took a long ton of pictures, some of them with my phone (not sure how that will work out). You'll get to see a large number of them over coming days, but probably not many till I get home and have time to go through them, and do some grouping and editing.

So we'll skip to the end of the day, and a happy Rachel, who brought home fresh flowers to add cheer to the house for several days to come.

Seeing big Ben makes me want to go back to London. It's been too long. When I return to India June 1, I have a seven hour connection at Heathrow but I wouldn't chance a trip into town with that short a time.
