Dear Old Maggie

Maggie is now 14 1/2 years old. It's beginning to show. Although she always had some brindled white on her toes, and a small white spot on her forehead, and the tip of her tail, the white face is entirely old age.

She is walking much more slowly. Even Omer would like to walk faster than she does now, and the steps are giving her a hard time. So far, I think she's still having good quality of life, but she's gone downhill a lot in the past couple of months. She's now lived longer than any other dog I've owned.

I try to be nice to her. I hope someone is nice to me when I'm of a comparable human age.

Here's Maggie at one year of age:

It's sad seeing our pets age, but if it's been treated well by its owner, the dog's life has probably been an enjoyable one.

Wow, that's wild how much white she has now that she didn't before. Maybe Metacam could help her--check with your vet. She's a sweetie!

Aw, it's so hard to see your friend get older. I do that with Grace--and I'm thankful each and every day that she is still here with me. Fortunately, other than looking skinny, she has been really healthy.

Maggie is a lovely dog. For her size, she has lived an extremely long life, yet there is still life!

What a good friend and companion you have in Maggie. You are both very fortunate. An old preacher once said if a man be converted, his horse and dog will know if it was for real.

The love of a faithful companion...unconditional, loving, and loyal; qualities you'd love to find in a "human" friend. I'm so glad you have them with Maggie.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing!

What a sweet old girl she is. It's not easy seeing them get old

Maggie still looks proud and full of life. She's been a good companion to you and hopefully she will continue to be a good companion for a few more years. Just think of all the fun she has had in her 14 years with you...
