Philadelphia Flower Show- Tending Our Roots

A number of the commercial exhibits used the idea of "roots" controlling the plants of the future. This one's interpretive sign says that the central tree is modeled after a real one in Singapore and it symbolizes the efforts of the present generation to plant the seeds for the future. Here is their representation of the tree.

I thought this was supposed to be the sky, but I guess it is the canopy of the tree. At any rate, I liked it.

Beneath the canopy "lies a cityscape in which we can all bloom."

Part of it was painted on the wall, but some was 3-D.

The plant material was very nice.

Lots of orchids.

Today, Cathy and I went and hiked six miles to do an early spring walkthrough of my trail section. I knew it would be a stretch, but I did it! Real trail, some topography, and some light trail work.

The tree roots in the bottomland hardwood swamp are interesting too.

Also, I got a load of clothes out on the clothesline before we went out. First time this year, but it got to 70 degrees! Other than that, I didn't do anything very energetic, but puttered at computer things in the afternoon.

Miles hiked in 2025: 60.4 miles. NCT Hike 100: 14.5.

North Country Trail, Michigan, Freesoil TH to Koenig Rd and back. 6 miles

Impressive display. I can't imagine the amount of time it must take to put these together.
I think the high I saw yesterday was either 78 or 79. It was wonderful. Cooler temps for today though
