Ellen and I did a variety of things today. We headed toward Manistee and hiked three short trails for a total of five miles. There were so many different things we saw... I don't want to overwhelm you all on one day. You can expect to see tidbits over the next few days.
After a chilly start to the day, the sun came out and made the lake (Lake Michigan is always THE lake) blue and appealing. This is the view to the south from Magoon Creek. You can just see some people on the beach in the curve.
Then we turned and walked north.
The view to the north shows you where we were headed next. At the end of the next point of land is the city of Manistee. No, we didn't walk there. As I said, our total walking was only about five miles. Well, we did walk there, but not from this point.
We took the car around to an urban trail (more on that another day), and walked to the Manistee channel into Lake Michigan. We sat in the park and ate our lunch.
It's hard to beat a day along Lake Michigan when the temperature and sunshine are perfect, with a good friend. Don't I live in a beautiful place?

You had me confused at first because your blog was showing the photo with the lake on the left first...then when I went directly to your blog site the correct photo was showing with the Lake where it belonged...whew... Looks like some enjoyable walking today!

It is truly lovely, Joan...sounds like a perfect kind of day, especially when spent with a good friend. I like the lighthouse, too.
Jo aka Poetic Shutterbug and I had a lovely day on Thursday, hearing our friend, Sony Holland, sing and her husband, Jerry, accompany her on the guitar. It was at a nice outdoor setting at the Marin Art and Garden Center with families on blankets, children and even dogs!
