A Bouquet of Birds

Trying to do paperwork for assignments- have to make this quick. Here are the best birds of the last few days.

Just a handsome mourning dove, but on a branch instead of the ground.

Here's a female hairy woodpecker. O wait, I said the "best." This isn't so good, she's hammering on MY house.

Here's a nifty surprise. On the marshy end of Arcadia Lake I thought I saw some large birds. Took some pix, and had to wait till I could see them on the computer to be sure of what I had. But, yes, more sandhill cranes! I never seem to get tired of them.

Such pretty birds today! I haven't seen sandhill cranes in person. I just hope they don't come to my pond!

rainfield- she flew a long way to do that for you.

Lin- Oh- wouldn't it be great if you saw some on your trip to MI?

betchai- my book says they also breed in Idaho and maybe eastern Oregon, and winter in S Cal and Mexico. Keep your eyes open and maybe you'll get lucky!

Ann- I shooed her off after taking the pic.
