SPW Ski Outing at Big M

Spirit of the Woods memeber

Today was the monthly outing for the Spirit of the Woods Chapter of the NCTA (just read trail club). For several Februaries now, we've had a ski day and chili feed at the Big M Ski Area. A couple more people showed up before the day was over, but it was a small turnout. Here we are, and yes, that's Om behind me. Every once in a while, I can get him into the woods.

And, indeed, he not only went for the chili, but went out with us on the Corkpine Trail.

After that, he'd had enough, but Loren and I also did the Lumberjack Trail, the other easy loop. My skill level isn't good enough for any other trails at Big M (I think). It's a tough set of loops, and I'm not very brave on skis.

This is just a pretty spot where the trail curves past some red pines. It was a fun day. The only downside is that Maggie doesn't get to go to places where the ski trails are groomed.

Well, it was nice to see Om with you, enticed by the chili, perhaps, but out, nonetheless. I hope he got an extra serving. I'll bet that chili tastes good after being out in the cold!

Looks like a good day. Well except for Maggie since she didn't get to go along

When I have two reliable knees, cross country skiing wil be a winter consideration. How beautiful … quiet … peaceful … healthy … loving! Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

Not brave!?! You're brave as hell!
Isn't it wonderful to have the health, energy and desire to do such hearty things?
You are an awesome example!

Hi Loretta- I don't know if he had fun or not. But he went. I think that counts for something.

Carmen- actually, the chili was so hot that it hurt my teeth after being in the cold. But it wasn't really very cold- high 20s- very nice!

Carol- it was fun. We also had a meeting. That was just the requirement of the month. But then we got to go play!

Ann- poor Maggie sure got ripped off.

Rose- are you getting new knees? When will that be?

rainfield- I kind of like quietly zooming through the woods.

Ferd- ha! Thanks for the encouragement. Mostly I'm just obsessed, and my body has to keep up. So far so good!

Lin- now I know what happens when someone posts a comment while I'm posting a comment. Nothing! I just don't see the new one until I've posted mine. Yeah, Om, indeed!
