We had a great turnout for the Spirit of the Woods Chapter hike today. 26 people and 2 dogs.
It was a lovely day in the fall woods. Most of the leaves are down, but not all. The temperature was cool, but perfect for walking. This is a small piece of Udell Fire Tower Road.
We did a short bushwhack from the trail to get to the Udell Fire Tower. It's being visited from the trail so often now there is a fairly visible treadway from the NCT to the road shown above.
There were still a number of colorful leaves on the ground if you hunted for them.
And in some places where the moss grows thick there are these great gobs of green.
Several new people came on the hike, and also several we had not seen for a while. It was a great day in the woods.
North Country Trail. Udell TH to Udell Fire Tower and back. 6.3 miles
