An Idyllic Winter Week

This has been just about as close to a perfect winter week as I can imagine. It just kept snowing gently all week long. Sometimes the sun popped out. There was almost no wind. Even that morning with the snowblower was ideal. The snow was buttery, and not blowing in my face as I sliced through it with the machine.

So I thought I would show you some images from all through the week. I missed taking pics a couple of days; sorry!

Sunday a cute little gray squirrel track, hopping across the ice in the creek, top to bottom
gray squirrel tracks

Monday Maggie pauses beside the sumac trees with fluffy snow coming down

Friday another view of the northernmost stretch of open water in the cemetery creek
creek in snow

Saturday that amazing pink light spreading across the landscape at sunrise
pink light on trees

Sunday blue sky above snow-covered branches when the sun came out
snow and blue sky

I am spending the night at the rotating homeless shelter tonight. Just a small effort to do my part at helping. Oh... and it's snowing again!

Pink, Blue (and Red)

Great photos! Maggie's an old hand now at having her picture taken. Love how she's looking at the camera.

Love the sunrise pic!

Lin- that's pretty high praise. I think you are just longing for that book.

HI sir rob- she is half Vizsla and half yellow lab. When he weight is under control (most of the time now) she looks all Vizsla. You know Dennis the Vizsla's Diary of Destruction, right? Same breed.

Carol- The sunrise was awesome. The kitchen door was frozen shut and I didn't have time to put on boots and get to that side of the house, so I was just running around in the driveway in my sneakers snapping pix before the light changed. You only get a couple of minutes, if that, under those conditions.

rainfield- it WAS. I love blue... the pink was more unusual, but blue makes my soul sing.

Ann- there are even icicles in that last one, but I couldn't seem to get them and the branch and the sky all in one shot.

Jean- Well... um... yeah... one generally needs snow for... EVERYTHING!

Ivy- she's not the mug that Chips was. I swear that dog understood a camera.

Hi Casey- the light was amazing that day! thanks for coming back.

For he briefest of seconds ( very fleeting, mind you ), I found myself wishing I lived in a snowy land. Your pictures were just awesome. Maggie is so cute in her little coat, not seeming to mind the snowflakes at all.

My favorite was that incredible sunrise picture. Almost magical in the soft pink light.

It is good of you to help out in the homeless shelter. Thank the Lord, it exists. I can't imagine folks being with shelter in your winter weather.

Carmen- I'll make a snowbird out of you yet!

Love the photos - especially the trees with pink light! I wish I had a better camera when it gets so pretty outside like this! You caught some good ones :)

Hi Mer- thanks for stopping by. That pink light was quite unique.

Thought he is brown. Could be just my monitor or my tired eyes already.

I love Labrador, wish I could get one soon.
