Huge Kudos to Sue - Day 351

Sue is the best helper I could have for this part of the hike. She doesn't mind trying to get down back roads at all. "My Jeep is getting to find out what Jeeps are for," she says. It takes forever, but we are getting into some places that I know other helpers would not want to drive.

Today, I did the last road piece that's going to be possible for a while.

This is Herman-Nestoria Road... not much of a road, but it's been driven quite a bit. Very pretty. Notice how the snow is still clinging to the trees after 5 days since the original storm.

I thought it was interesting that the entire area is covered with small rocky hills. It turns out these are left from glacial erosion on the bluff above the Sturgeon River.

The sun tried to break through again, and almost made it for a little bit this afternoon, but you can see from the "blue" pictures that it remained somewhat gloomy. I'm delighted to see that the Cozy Inn in Nestoria is still in business. That may be tomorrow's dinner. Yippie!

There is some really good logistical news for tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Miles today: 9.7. Total miles so far: 4078.3. I've done 116 miles in the U.P., even going so slowly. With the new updates on the NCT maps it was easier to calculate the theoretical miles left. That total is about 740.

That's great that you have Sue there with her jeep. Sure is pretty out there.

Ann- a sturdy vehicle is a must.

Lulu- We still didn't get there to eat. Maybe tomorrow.
