The Interior Tour

Here's the trailer tour. Also, consider these the "Before" pictures. I'm not doing any major alterations, but some things will be made to suit me better.

First of all, keep in mind this is the smallest travel trailer on the market that is more than a portable bed. Works fine for me, and perhaps one other person. Two large people would find it difficult. The people who sold it now have two children, and they said they just couldn't make it work for four people.

One more outside picture. It does have a nice rack on the back. The box is the battery for the 12 V electric, but there is plenty of room for a cooler or a bike or whatever you want to strap on.

Now we'll go inside. At the back end is the typical trailer double bed that converts to a table. This was important to me, because I want to be able to sit at the table and work on the computer... writing for example.

Under the seats/bed is some storage. However, one side is pretty much taken up with a water tank, and the other side has the circuit breaker box. That was a little disappointing. I had thought there would be more space to stow things.

In the middle on the door side is a tall cabinet with some storage space, but one section is taken up with a heater. That's a nice option to have. On the other side is the "kitchen." There is a small sink. However, it isn't connected either to the water tank or to a drain. That will need to be completed. I think I do want to have the sink functional. There is a huge three-burner, toaster oven unit fastened to the counter. That is way more cooking power than I need. I hope to sell this unit and get just a one-burner stove. That will free up a lot of counter space. You can see part of the sink in the picture, but it's just full of stuff right now.

Under the counter/sink should be storage, but it's mostly filled with an air conditioner. I'm not sure I need that. I won't take it out immediately, but I think I'd rather have the space. I don't recreate in the deep south. I'll have to see how badly a fiberglass trailer heats up- not like a metal one, I wouldn't think. And I don't plan on spending long days inside it.

At the far end there is... nothing. I plan to put a narrow bench seat across there which could also provide sleeping for someone small. Ignore the spare tire... it's just lying on the floor at the moment.

It needs curtains, and some additional storage. When I put in the other bench, that can be all open storage underneath like a trunk. You don't want stuff loose to just roll around inside the trailer. I think it should have had storage above the kitchen, and maybe above the bunks. Not sure how that was fastened in. I'll have to contemplate that and decide if I want to add more weight to put some back in place.

I don't want to get sucked into traveling with a lot of extra stuff, but I do want to have things I need. I can certainly carry most things in the car, but it would be convenient to have certain things that go with the trailer be in the trailer.

So that's my new toy. I've already been asked if I'm giving up my tent. That's a definitive "NO." This will be used for different kinds of travel, not recreational camping so much, except perhaps with people who dislike tenting.

I'm thinking of it as a portable office!

Sounds like a wonderful new challenge and opportunity. I look forward to hearing more as you finish it and use it!

It looks very nice. It looks like you could make more storage space above the table/office too. Happy touring!

You have such a big toy that you can live inside.

No matter the size of the RV, storage is always an issue; for it seems that the more space one has, the more stuff she wishes to put in it.

That is so COOL! It's really perfect for what you need.

We had a pop-up growing up. We'd stuff that thing with all of our stuff and then go....it's perfect!

Can you write it off on your taxes as a business expense?

As long as it works for you.

I'm jealous now. But glad for you.

aside from the storage which you can work around that, it's perfect.

I am liking your little trailer a lot - so much that my other half says stop looking, that means he's worried I may get very itchy feet, could be he knows me better than I know myself :)

My family had a trailer when I was growing up. Many fond memories of that trailer.
