Turkeytail Butterfly

I'm pulling your leg. There is no such creature. But last year's turkeytail fungus was trying hard to be a butterfly. Do you think it will flap its wings and take off? turkeytail fungus

There was another, larger patch of the turkeytail. Looks like it was also trying to grow a butterfly-- on the right edge. turkeytail fungus

In other news: I painted four hours. Was going to do more, but I wasn't sure which paint to switch to, so I came home and continued working on the book marketing materials instead. Oh, and dumping emails. Time-consuming, annoying job.

I read your title and thought this should be interesting...lol Maybe not a real butterfly but it was still interesting.

Charlee: "Butterfly."
Chaplin: "Butterfly."
Charlee: "Flutter flutter flutter."
Chaplin: "Flutter away, butterfly, so we can stare at you."
Lulu: "You guys realize that's just some kind of tree fungus and not an actual butterfly, right?"
Charlee: "It's a butterfly in our imagination."
Chaplin: "And it's fluttering!"

I wondered what we'd see after that title!

Ann- Polypore fungi grow in such weird ways, sometimes.

Charlee and Chaplin- you have the spirit. Imagination rules!

Stew- glad I piqued your curiosity.
