Yesterday and Today

As promised, here are a few more pictures from yesterday's hiking. This is Bear Creek, north of Pierce Dr. bear creek

The sun showed up in the late afternoon, making every little wetland spectactular wetland with cloud reflections

A bit gruesome, but interesting- a contorted deer skeleton in the creek that is still holding together. It looks as if it belongs in some sort of fantasy game. deer skeleton

Just one more picture of a happy hiker, Denali. She's miles beyond here now. hiker

Today, I did some trail work. On one section of our trail, someone had taken dark blue spray paint and just made huge blobby messes on way too many trees. dark blue spray paint on a tree

Andrea went with me, and we started scraping those off and painting new, correct blazes. We only got about a half mile done, but we'll be back. This is the section that was such a mess last winter. painting a blue trail blaze on a tree

In other news: I did editing, and worked on the Newaygo County Data Book.

North Country Trail, Lake County, MI, 5 Mile Road north and back doing trail work, about 2 miles

North Country Trail miles for 2021 is at 263.

Looks like it was a beautiful day. The picture of the deer skeleton is a bit sad but fascinating as well

Cool find with the skeleton! Looks like you had lovely weather for hiking and blazing.

Ann and Lin- It was perfect. Blazing isn't much fun when it's hot.

Charlee: "Our Dada says that in a fantasy game that deer skeleton would probably stand up and charge at you."
Chaplin: "Way to be morbid, Dada!"
