It Felt Pretty Good - Day 399

The trail today was almost clear of snow! There were just a few patches to walk through. Only one hill was high enough to get my heart pumping hard. It felt awesome to actually HIKE along the trail instead of stumble.

The significant feature for today was the North Branch of the Boardman River. It presented a number of different moods. When I first joined it, there were a lot of shrubs and it was probably more floodplain than river. But soon the trail was following the main channel.

This logjam made it look a bit more wild than it really is.

In a lot of places the white cedars hung over the water and created lovely sheltered places. Although today was not a day to be hunting for shadowed spots. It was sunny, but stayed in the 30s all day.

In some places, high banks were protected by fences, usually where there were 2-tracks that provided vehicle access.

I was going to walk a little farther before stopping to eat my lunch, but a bench trumps timing if it's not too far off the mark. I sat and watched the river while I ate and had a quick phone conversation with Marie. It would have been a lovely spot to share with her.

These great posts were in place to mark a number of the road crossings or turns. They are easy to see.
