Teases of Spring - Day 394

As I said, we are hunting for any pieces of trail that are road walks or less challenging woods sections for the time being. We jumped ahead to a road walk that was mostly pleasant dirt.

So far, we aren't dealing with spring mud. It was early enough that the ground was still frozen. You know I like "ice agates," and this one was a little different.

Despite the snowy ground, spring is giving us hints. The willows are turning yellow. I thought they looked nice against the green water of this pond.

When we got to the end of the roadwalk, we could see back to Thunder Mountain. We had started hiking near the base of that peak.

The rest of the day was on a snowmobile trail through the Mackinac State Forest. There was quite a lot of snow, but it was well packed, so the walking was OK. As you can see, it turned into a blue sky day. About 40 degrees!

Bill and I walked through, but Bob helped with logistics and walked almost as far as we did just with hiking out to meet us and checking out some parts of trail. This trail is maintained by his chapter, so he knows it really well. There was one really big hill in the middle of this section, but we conquered it. It's part of the ridge you can see ahead in the very first picture.
