2021 Is Off to the Right Kind of Start

The year started with a hike, the best possible beginning. snowy trail

Five of us met and hiked out two miles and then back again. group of hikers

There was about five inches of snow in the woods, and no one had hiked it ahead of us! This was neat, but the going was tough. It's just the right depth that it's not enough to really need snowshoes, but just a little more than is comfortable to walk through. In hindsight, I wish I'd put on the snowshoes. But the woods was beautiful. snowy trail

What trail? Do you really have to ask? My favorite, the North Country Trail. Hike 100 2021 has started, and now I'm at 4 miles. North Country Trail sign

This is the post at the trailhead, although the emblem on that post is for connector trail (from the parking lot to the actual trail). I should have had someone take a picture at the turn with the emblem with the star in it. Oh well!

On the way home, I was following a VW Beetle that was covered with 1970s stickers- "Love Bug," flowers, etc. When I pulled up at the stoplight in Scottville, they were turning left, and I was going straight, so we were side by side. The young woman in the passenger seat turned to me, smiled, and flashed me the peace sign! If that isn't a good omen, I don't know what is!

In other news: ho hum... I made soup. That's about it.
